ATV trails come down to the river nearby and there are camps in the floodplain. Bridge noise.;River scoured boulder bar which supports a small patch of riparian shrubland with abundant Spiraea virginiana and a few scattered flood battered Betula nigra trees. There is a large boulder at the upstream end of the community which apparently protects the shrub strata from the highest intensity floods. Combination of stable substrate and flood regime promotes shrub physiognomy. Most prairie elements are lacking.
